README

Why "The Recovery Code"?

Addiction wrote a story into you — its own corrupted code. Recovery is two jobs: learning the code (how recovery actually works — the patterns, the tools, the moves) and rewriting the story, line by line, day by day.

And there's a bug in the system we all have to manage. Around here we call it Bobo — the malware in your source code. You never fully uninstall the disease; you quarantine it, patch around it, and keep it from executing. That takes daily work and other people. But here's the truth under all of it: nobody can run this rewrite for you, and nothing outside you ever fixed it. It's an inside job.

who_this_is_for: anybody recovery-curious, new to recovery, or decades in — any path — and the people who love them.

September's Recovery Hero:
Valentina Atencio

Montrose, Colorado · Clean since April 10, 2018

On day two of a binge, an old friend called her for no reason at all. Valentina lied for an hour, and then she stopped lying. The next day she made a call of her own. That was eight years ago. Today she sponsors other women and mentors people in her community who are standing where she once stood.

Know somebody like that? Put their name in the light they'd never ask for.
